This image is hot off the easel. and is a 16" x 20" oil on canvas. The painting depicts the last rays of light on a winters shoot as the Spaniel retrieves and picks up the last bird of the day. The lighting for this painting was why I painted it in subdued complimentary colours. The rim lighting on the dog and pheasant brought the whole thing together.
I shall be sending this image to my publishers this week and it will debut at the CLA Game Fair in July, unless sold beforehand.

the lighting is superbly rendered paul and the subject is perfect for the game fair crowd.i think this one will go down very well indeed!
